Carol Ginandes grew up in New York City but spent summers in rural environments that inspired her passion for nature. She began painting and drawing as a child. Then through a fellowship award to Yale Summer School of Art, she was introduced to documentary and portrait photography by Walter Rosenblum. She subsequently studied with Minor White at MIT while doing undergraduate work at Harvard University. A Fulbright grant award enabled her to spend a year photographing in Latin America. Another body of work, a book of portraits (Of Women Born) ,was published in a limted fine art edition. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries and acquired by numerous private and corporate collections. Her work is in the collections of the Fogg Art Museum, the Cape Cod Museum of Art , and in the DeCordova Museum School. She is also a well known health psychologist who has authored a variety of audio programs for mind/body healing.
